A Lesson in Magic(Or Not)

Title: A Lesson in Magic(Or Not)
Rating: PG It is mostly a G but there is a mention of having the name of another carved into one's arm, so I have called it PG.
Dolls: Alwyn(Souldoll Tiffee Girl)
Author's Notes: I've always wanted to write one of Alwyn's magic lessons, and now I have! The magic of dialogue has made it longer than usual. Master Faust may as yet have a resin form, but until then, he exists mostly in my imagination. All Comments are welcome, even if only to say that you read it. Thank you!
A small blossoming young girl, a large white something in her arms, strolling towards a clearing in a large forest. Upon reaching her destination, the large white rabbit in her arms lept to the ground and promptly ran into the cover of some trees. The girl sighed, as she had seen this many times before and was not the slightest bit startled to see a tall, thin man with long white hair emerge from the very spot where a rabbit had just vanished.
"Master Faust, would you hurry up?" Alwyn called to the man. Faust let a low chuckle escape his mouth.
"Alwyn my apprentice, good magic should never be rushed. Be more patient, good things come to those who wait."
"So says he who runs out the door every chance he gets." She put her large, childish hands on her hips.
"Now you'll never get me to teach you any magic if you keep insulting me and my honour," he said, shaking his finger in her face. He quickly glanced around them but seeing no one hiding in the fog, he pulled a large duffle bag from thin air. Filled with bottles of strange substances and potions supplies that never seemed to end, it certainly looked the part of a magicain's bag.
"Today, on this wonderfully fogy day, I shall teach you one of the most important lessons of the life of a magicain's appretince." Alwyn leaned forward with every carefully stressed sylable. What was she going to learn? What could be so important that Master Faust would take the care to make sure that they were utterly alone? Maybe he would finally teach her to conjure fire from the tips of her fingers, or make trees grow at will. There was no telling what he would teach her and she had waited all spring for a day of lessons.
"Today, I shall teach you how..."
"Yes,yes, what?" Alwyn leaned in closer in ancipation of his next words.
"How to.......identify herbs and their uses" Alwyn fell to ground in shock. All that waiting and they were only going to pick weeds! Trust that Faust to mess with her, he was planning this all along. Oh, that tricky Master of hers.
"Well, come along little magicain, come into the forest with me." A wicked grin spread around his narrow face. He knew full well how angry she was with him. Alwyn was determined to get back at him somehow. She use this time to her advantage. Yes, she would learn other things from Faust as they picked herbs, you could be sure of that.
A hour or so after they had started, Alwyn decided to ask her first question, the first of many.
"Master Faust," she began.
"Yes, oh pale one?"
"Is Faust your real name?"
"It depends on what you would think of as a real name."
"Did your parents name it,is what I meant to say." He let out a laugh.
"No no, my parents named me a perfectly ordinary name."
"And what was that?" He was suddenly silent. Alwyn had never known Master Faust to answer a question slowly, she was used to witty comebacks that zoomed out of his mouth faster than she could blink.
"My birth name is......Hans. Hansel, as it happens."
"Like, like Hansel and Gretal?"
"Yes." Once this simple fact sunk in, Alwyn exploded with laughter. Master Faust gave her this dirty look, then,to assert her dominance as the master magicain added.
"My Master gave me the name Faust, long before I knew the history or the meaning of the name."
"Your master? The one who taught you magic?" Faust nodded solemly.
"The very same."
"Is, is it her name that written on your wrist?"
"Yes." He fingered the mark and looked to the sky.
