Another NaNo Exerpt
Nov. 21st, 2008 11:28 am“All done in there, apprentice?” Master Mordred asked as he opened the door ever so slightly. After an affirmative sound from inside, he flung open the door and Ethel heard him take a sharp intake of air.
“What?” she asked as she turned around. There, wearing a tailored trench coat, was Mordred, his mouth opened like he wanted to say something but didn’t remember how to speak. “Well,” Ethel began, “How do I look?” She put her hands on hips and Mordred found himself noticing how feminine and delicate her hands looked in those evening gloves.
“You look fabulous,” he said, finding the words to say. “You really look like an adult woman all dressed up like that. Now come on, we should get going; Rudolf will be expecting us to arrive soon.”
“How are we getting there? Isn’t he in the tropics?”
“Yes, he is. We’ll be travelling my way,” Mordred said, a sly smile spreading onto his face.
“Oh good!” Ethel said excitedly, clapping her hands together. “So I’ll finally get to see how you-“ Mordred put a handkerchief to her mouth and she lost consciousness.
“Sorry poppet, but that’s something you learn later,” he said as he carefully picked her up and carried her like a bride through a strange portal.
